PANEL 1
A top down view of a red Mini Cooper as it rolls down a dirt path. Shaded green mounds on either side of the road hint to a shady forest surrounding the car and its occupants.
RUTH: (V.O.) … And this road is a bit tricky, what with all the pookas that hang out here at night!
CAT: (V.O.) Oh, geez. What do they do?
PANEL 2
RUTH smiles ahead, still concentrating on the road. CAT looks small and worried in her seat.
RUTH: Oh, you know, the usual bit of chaos that demonic shapeshifters like to cause!
PANEL 3
The greenery zips by behind CAT as she regards RUTH with an even more worried expression.
CAT: Do they come around the house often?
RUTH: (V.O.) They might!
PANEL 4
The car makes a sharp turn to the right, heading down more dirt road. All around, the forest is shaded, with a limited view of the blue sky above.
RUTH: (V.O.) Here we go, last turn!
PANEL 5
The car ambles down the dirt road. On either side stand tall trees that obscure the sky. It appears to be twilight instead of broad daylight here.
RUTH: (V.O.) Mr. Griffin loves his privacy for sure! These are the same type of trees surrounding Permission Forest nearby.
CAT: (V.O.) “Permission Forest”?
PANEL 6
RUTH smiles out the driver side window. CAT tries to peer around her.
RUTH: That’s just our nickname for it. It’s really called Foundheart Wood, and the Irish name is––oh! Here we are!
PANEL 7
CAT looks positively floored. He eyes are round and disbelieving.
PANEL 8
An interesting structure painted in mustard yellow dwarfs the Mini Cooper. It is divided into two sides. On the right side is three stories; the ground floor has a red door and the second floor has a single window; and the third floor has no windows, so this might be the attic.
On the left side there are four stories; the ground floor has a red garage door and the second floor has a few windows looking out to the yard; the third floor has a few more windows; and the fourth floor has no windows.
A gallery with windows connects the two sides.
There are sloping blue roofs on either section, with a chimney visible on the left side.
Behind the left side there is a wall of stones and a railing on top. This could be a platform accessible only on the left side’s third floor.
CAT: (V.O.) It’s… primary colors!
PANEL 9
The two ladies get out of the car.
RUTH: Oh, yeah, Mr. Griffin loved his big ol’ place. Suited him down to the ground. It was a dream come true when he came to me to take care of his affairs… Well, you’ll see for yourself!
PANEL 10
From inside the living room. RUTH and CAT walk through the front door. Blank picture frames hang on the walls. To the viewer’s left there is a curious cornucopia with three wavy things coming out of it; there is also part of a fireplace and chimney visible.
Nearly blending in with the dark wood floor is a tiny red recliner and side table on the right side.
RUTH: Welcome to Griffin Sanctuary!
PANEL 11
RUTH stands with her arms open, indicating the room as a whole. CAT stands to the side, taking in everything. The whole place is equal parts underwhelming and interesting.
On the viewer’s left: a blue sofa and a large, blank picture frame hanging over it. A sloping part of the wall, over the sofa, shows a cloud, sun, and a vertical blue bar which appears to be white numbers.
In the center: The wall that makes up the staircase. Three oval, very blank picture frames hang on the wall, going diagonal toward the floor. A massive, also very blank picture frame hangs on the wall alongside the stairs.
On the right: A stone fireplace and chimney done in boring, grey stone. A red chair sits beside it.
CAT: At least I don’t have to worry about redecorating too much. (thinking) What’s with the empty picture frames?
RUTH: Mr. Griffin was a bit of a minimalist. But I’m sure he’d want you to make it as cozy or as sterile as you wanted!
PANEL 12
RUTH seems lost in her happiness while CAT looks over a paper.
RUTH: Think of all the memories you’ll make here!
CAT: Speaking of memories…
PANEL 13
CAT: There’s also a camper van… Something called the Eoin Fame?
PANEL 14
RUTH’s eyes take on an eerie starry quality.
CAT: (thinking) Agh!
PANEL 15
RUTH walks toward the door.
RUTH: Oh, yes. Come on back out here.
PANEL 16
Outside the garage. RUTH bends down as she fiddles with the handle. CAT stands by, patiently waiting for some big reveal.
RUTH: Here we go… In just a moment… Ah! There we go now!
PANEL 17
With a flourish, RUTH throws up the garage door. The darkness inside is barely illuminated by the daylight. An outline of a van is visible. To the right, a small shadow stands against a stack of cardboard boxes.
FX: SHWOOOOOOOOO
PANEL 18
A Westfalia camper van stares blankly at the viewer. A sunscreen hangs behind its windshield–or windscreen, I guess it’s called in this part of the world. Part of the front bumper is dented. Piles of cardboard boxes sit to the right.
CAT: (off-screen) Oh, no.
PANEL 19
RUTH looks so happy to see the van. CAT looks disappointed, as if she received socks for a Christmas present.
CAT: It’s a stick.
