Scene 5 Transcript

PANEL 1

Interior of a hotel room. Buttercream walls contrast with the green bedspread and powder blue carpet. Overall, the color scheme easy on the eyes.

A floor lamp stands beside the bed. A door on the opposite wall leads to the bathroom. A modest, square nightstand with a single drawer and large cubby area stand on the bed’s left side. A single wall lamp hangs over the nightstand, inconveniently out of reach for the person lying in bed.

The suitcase lies on the floor. It is slightly open.

The gremlin crouches on the nightstand, his head in an open bag of chips—excuse me, crisps. He happily munches away on his little bounty.

SFX: Munch munch

PANEL 2

The door opens. The gremlin stops eating and looks up with perked ears.

PANEL 3

CAT sits on the bed facing the bathroom wall, unaware of the gremlin crawling back into the suitcase. On the nightstand, her wallet and crisps bag are visible.

Her backpack sits on the floor, to the right side of the bed.

CAT looks freshly showered. Her blonde hair hangs in loose waves around her shoulders. She wears a dark mauve shirt, a pair of purple pajama bottoms, and a white towel around her shoulders. She looks peaceful.

CAT: Ahh…

PANEL 4

CAT lies down on the bed. Her hair is fanned out across the pillow on either side of her head. She covers her face with her hands, leaving her mouth visible.

CAT: I did it.

CAT: I escaped.

CAT: I’m starting my new life.

PANEL 5

She lifts her left hand over her face and moves her right hand onto the pillow. She seems to be staring at her ring finger.

CAT: I can’t go back.

PANEL 6

A POV view of the nightstand. It has a wallet with black and white vertical stripes and sunflowers, the crisps bag, and CILLIAN’s business card.

PANEL 7

An illustration of CAT sitting upright against the pillows. She rubs the back of her neck with her left hand as she holds the business card in her right. She smiles down at the card.

From the suitcase, the gremlin peers out from the darkness.

PANEL 8

Early morning. The sun rises from behind a series of hills. The land is cast in purple shadows. In the foreground is a border of tall trees with swirly and evergreen boughs. A quaint, white two-story house with a broken stone wall stands in a small field by the trees.

PANEL 9

The interior of a kitchen. There appears to be an attempt at making a Middle Age theme, but the decorator stopped at the intersecting metal window and wooden bench underneath. Yet an attempt was made, so there’s that.

CILLIAN stands before the window with his back to the viewer. A gentle glow from the early sun surrounds outlines him. He is dressed in a teal bathrobe. An orange coffee mug stands to his left.

PANEL 10

The viewer sees CILLIAN from his left side. He smiles out the window.

CILLIAN: I think I’ll go for a run.

PANEL 11

He walks across the wooden floor to a door. He undoes the sash on his robe.

PANEL 12

CILLIAN’s hand hangs the robe on a wall coat rack.

PANEL 13

Outside the house, near a covered port. The open opens slightly.

SFX: Creeeaaak. Shff. Clip clop.

PANEL 14

CILLIAN, in the form of a red stag, leaps from the open door. Even through the dusty purple cloak of early morning, the viewer can make out the red tones of his coat. His eyes are still a bright blue.

PANEL 15

CILLIAN runs towards the dark forest, a white silhouette against the giant, ancient trees.
